About Botox®

Transform Your Look With BOTOX®

Laughing, smiling, and frowning can leave lines on your face over time, making you appear older and tired. BOTOX® injections are a noninvasive way to help soften lines and wrinkles, and erase the signs of aging, to restore a more youthful look. This is a great treatment for those looking for a way to improve the appearance of wrinkles, and to prevent additional wrinkles from forming.

A BOTOX® injection is a very simple, non-surgical procedure that usually takes 10-20 minutes, dependent upon the amount of BOTOX® injected, and the number of desired areas to be treated. Individual results may vary, but BOTOX® typically lasts up to 4 months.

Frequently Asked Questions

Many fine lines and wrinkles are caused by overactive facial muscles. BOTOX® is an FDA-approved, safe neurotoxin that temporarily prevents abnormal muscle contractions by blocking nerve signals to the muscles in which it’s injected.

BOTOX® is approved to treat a variety of areas and concerns, including lines between the brows, frown lines, forehead lines, crow’s feet, and neck bands. BOTOX® may also be used to reduce a bulky jawline, lift the brow, correct an asymmetrical or “gummy” smile, and treat other facial concerns resulting from over-contracted muscles.

Beyond cosmetic use, Botox is approved for the treatment of excessive sweating in the underarms or palms of the hand, chronic neck pain and even can be used to treat certain kinds of chronic migraine pain. Botox for migraines reduces the painful muscle tension in the head, neck, and shoulders associated with a migraine and can also help to prevent future migraines by blocking overactive nerves.

A skilled technician will numb the treatment area and then administer a controlled dose of Botox via a tiny needle to the overactive muscle. Discomfort is minimal. It is recommended to rest immediately following treatment, but, typically, normal activity can be resumed the same day. Heavy exercise should be avoided for 24 hours.

Depending on the area treated and desired effect, BOTOX® can last for months to a year. For wrinkle reduction and most standard BOTOX® treatments, effects are often visible within three to five days, but it may take up to two weeks to reach maximum smoothing results. Jaw reduction results will start to be visible after a week, but it may take up to six weeks to see full results that will last up to a year. Excessive sweating is reduced within 48 hours and lasts up to a year. Botox treatment for migraines is typically administered every three months.

Fine lines and wrinkles are often caused by over contraction of the muscle. When Botox is administered, it blocks the nerve signals for muscle contraction.

Typically, treatment requires no downtime. Therefore, you should be able to return to your daily routine immediately after treatment.
