Frequently Asked Questions

The difference is only the molecular consistency of the product and the storage and preparation. Different bacteria make them and one comes with a carrier molecule and the other one doesn’t.

The dosage of units and reconstitution is the same for both. Hence, for the treatment of glabella lines, the minimum indicated number of units is 20 units. As with any product, some patient variability exists and some patients  may require higher dosage.

The difference is the preparation and technique just like with Botox. Xeomin doesn’t have a carrier molecule and Dysport® does. The difference in only on the molecular level with exactly the same effect and duration of the result.
Yes, dosage of Dysport® and Xeomin® is different bit that’s only the information needed for the provider and not the patient.
Botox works by relaxing muscle activity, which creates wrinkles and/or early lines on the forehead, between your eyebrows or around the eyes.

  • Wide jaw-slimming down the jaw line
  • Neck bands- Platysma neck cords
  • Hyperhidrosis – excessive sweating
  • Gummy smile

There are no FDA approved studies for Xeomin injection for adults less that 18 years of age. During the clinical trials the maximum age of the patients was 65 years old.

Adults from 18 to 65 and older are all candidates for the treatment. There is no right age to start treatment, but Xeomin, Botox and Dysport are all being recognized as a preventative measurement to starting injections early to avoid the lines from getting deeper and becoming more prominent.

If you have pre-existing neuromuscular disorders such as (Myasthenia gravis, Lambert-Eaton Syndrome, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) should not be injected. If you also have pre existing swallowing or breathing problems, you should be advised against Xeomin treatment. Patients with evidence of active infection or inflammation at the site of potential treatment area, should not be injected until inflammation or infection completely resolves. Dr. Avaliani will perform a detailed history intake and physical exam to determine if Xeomin is the right treatment for you.
